Dr Ian Kronborg

Dr Ian Kronborg

After doing his medical training at Melbourne University Dr Ian Kronborg worked at the RMH and completed his gastroenterology fellowship. He then worked at The WEHI and went overseas to complete his training at the University of Southern California. He returned to Australia and worked at Western Health eventually becoming Head of Gastroenterology and Clinical Services Director for Medicine. He also established the Drug and Alcohol service and was lead clinician for IT in Western Health. He has published research in hepatology, IBD and addiction. Professor Paul Bird

Professor Paul Bird

Paul Bird is a rheumatologist in private practice and Conjoint Professor at the University of New South Wales. In addition to his clinical duties, he is the Director of Optimus Clinical Research, a clinical research center undertaking phase 2, 3 and 4 trials of novel agents for the treatment of rheumatic diseases. He has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (RMIT University) and his PhD thesis (University of NSW) examined the feasibility, reliability and validity of MRI as an outcome measure in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Research Review would like to acknowledge the passing of Clinical Professor Saxon Smith AM, a leader in Australian Dermatology, and a long-term contributor to our Dermatology publications and videos. Professor Smith’s unwavering commitment to research and advances in Dermatology ensured his popularity as a presenter for Research Review. His willingness to continue in very difficult circumstances was an inspiration and we are truly thankful for his help.
