Clinical Associate Professor Michael Hooper

Clinical Associate Professor Michael Hooper is an endocrinologist with a special interest in metabolic bone disease and in particular Osteoporosis and Paget’s disease.  He played a major part in the formation of the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society in 1988 of which he was inaugural Honorary Secretary and Treasurer, a past President and, in 2013, in recognition, was elected an Honorary Life Member of that Society. As Head of Endocrinology at Concord Hospital for over 30 years he established it as a centre of clinical and research expertise in metabolic bone disease. Other aspects of his life as a Physician, include, providing a self-funded Specialist service and clinic on Norfolk Island and a long history of involvement in the RACP receiving, in recognition of his significant contribution to the welfare of the College, the 2017 John Sands College Medal.
