Associate Professor Mark Putland

Associate Professor Mark Putland MBBS MPH FACEM joined the Royal Melbourne Hospital team as Director of Emergency Medicine in 2018, after 10 years working across regional and metropolitan, private, and public emergency departments as well as for the Victorian critical care retrieval and coordination service. His primary role before coming to RMH had been at Bendigo Health in central Victoria where he was part of a team that built a successful EM training program from the ground up. He graduated from University of Melbourne in 1998 and trained in Emergency Medicine in Melbourne and Brisbane, with a focus on trauma, critical care, and retrieval medicine. After graduation he completed further study in clinical research methods, aeromedical care and health service management. He received a Fulbright Professional Scholarship from the US State Department in 2015 to examine different models of regional trauma systems around the US and Australia.
