Professor Szer

Professor Szer

Professor Szer is a group lead in Clinical Haematology at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is also Director of the Western and Central Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service and President of the World Marrow Donor Association. He established the first adult bone marrow transplant centre in Melbourne in 1984. His clinical research interests are in all aspects of haematology, focussing on improving the outcomes of treatment for leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and in the nonmalignant conditions of Gaucher disease and paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria. He has published over 330 peer-reviewed papers, is the Editor-in-Chief of the Internal Medicine Journal and is on the editorial boards of several other international journals.
