Dr Anthony Kwan

Dr Anthony Kwan

Dr Anthony Kwan is the Director of Vitreoretinal Surgery at the Queensland Eye Institute and Director of the Queensland Electro-Diagnostic and Imaging Centre, Brisbane, Queensland. He is also a Senior Staff Specialist at the Mater Health Services, Brisbane. He is the immediate past Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists (ANZSRS).

Dr Kwan graduated in the UK and received his ophthalmology residency training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) research degree on the subject of retinal transplantation from the Institute of Ophthalmology at University College London, the University of London. He received his retinal fellowships training from the Vitreoretinal Units at Moorfields, London and at Lions Eye Institute in Perth, Australia.

Dr Kwan has held the academic title of Associate Professor of Ophthalmology from the University of Queensland since 2009 and has published widely in both clinical and scientific journals. He has received research grants from the Wellcome Trust and MRC in the UK, and from the Ophthalmic Research Institute of Australia, Macular Disease Foundation Australia, and NHMRC in Australia.
